NASA To Grow Plants On The Moon By 2015.

NASA is possible attempt to colonize and conquer that tide-causing space rock once and for all. They made this know in there recent press release. They'll be in a "sealed growth chamber" with enough air and water to support 5-10 days of growth.
They also believed that this change, perhaps and incredible one would be very possible by 2015. The three lucky plants that will (possibly) grow on the moon are basil (yum), turnips (gross) and a flower in the Arabidopsis family (probably the Arabidopsis thaliana, a "model higher plant").

Germination is the first step in plant growth and thus forms the focus of this first experiment. We will also look for phototropism and circumnutation. The basic data from the experiment would be the growth rate, expressed as leaf area, over time. This would be extracted from images of the plant growth area. In addition image data would be collected to investigate both phototropism (plant motion in response to changes in position of the light source) and circumnutation (plant circular motion). The growth and movement of the plants on the Moon would be compared to similar data from Earth controls in identical growth units.
What do you all think about this attempt of planting trees in moon? Does it mean we should start budgeting to acquire some plots of lands in the moon?

  1. Great! now natural oxygen flows after this achievement on the moon and we can to grow little plants like arabidopsis by using arabidopsis chamber for the plant growth.
